Minister Harris was treated to a host of wizards, witches, ghosts and ghouls when he visited St. Joseph’s NS Templerainey on Friday 27th October. He was there to visit the Special Classes for Children with Autism as the ASD unit in St. Joseph’s is undergoing refurbishment as part of the new building project. He saw the Sensory Rooms and Sensory Garden attached to the ASD Classes which have been equipped as a result of major fundraising by parents of the children attending St. Joseph’s ASD Classes. Minister Harris was made aware of the invaluable work these parents have done. He also heard about the limited Psychological, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy Services etc available to the children and the major challenges this poses for the teachers, pupils and their parents. Minister Harris also heard about the limited Broadband Service available to St. Joseph’s and it’s wider implications for the school. He met many of the children and a thoroughly enjoyable morning was had by all.
